Party, People’s Council, People’s Committee leaders of 34 provinces, cities
On the morning of June 30, localities across the country simultaneously held ceremonies to announce resolutions and decisions issued by the Party Central Committee and local authorities on the merger of provincial- and commune-level administrative units, the establishment of new Party organisations, and the appointment of personnel to Party committees, People’s Councils, People’s Committees, and Fatherland Front Committees at all levels — from provinces and cities to communes, wards and special zones.

The 15th National Assembly on June 12 passed a resolution on the reorganisation of provincial-level administrative units in 2025, under which Vietnam now has 34 provincial-level administrative units, including 28 provinces and six centrally-run cities.

Of the current 63 units, 11 will remain unchanged, while the remaining 52 will be merged into 23 new provincial-level administrative units.
