Spanning the Thuong river, Dong Viet bridge measures over 811 m in length and 23.5 m in width. It is currently one of the largest cable-stayed bridges in Bac Ninh province.

The approach road on the Bac Ninh side was built to grade II delta road standards, nearly 7 km long with a 22-m-wide roadbed and a 21.5-m-wide carriageway.

The Bac Ninh section of the project (including the bridge and the approach road) had a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND, funded by the provincial budget and local government bonds. Construction began in June 2022 and has just been completed.

On the Hai Phong side (formerly Hai Duong province), a connecting road project linking Dong Viet bridge to national highway 37 was implemented with a total investment of over 469.8 billion VND.

The road stretches nearly 5.3 km through Hung Dao and Le Loi communes and Cong Hoa ward (formerly Chi Linh city), now Tran Hung Dao ward under Hai Phong city.

Designed to grade II delta road standards, the approach road has a roadbed width of 22.5 m and a design speed of 80 km/h.

Construction started in 2022 and was completed in the first quarter of 2025.

The opening of Dong Viet bridge and its access roads facilitates travel for local residents and unlocks major opportunities for trade, tourism, and investment in industrial parks and clusters in both Bac Ninh province and Hai Phong city.

This is among the key transport projects contributing to realizing interregional connectivity and traffic development orientations of local authorities.
