3rd Mac Dynasty Countryside Market honors heritage, connects cultural roots
The 3rd Mac Dynasty Countryside Market is held to promote cultural values, foster community bonds, and disseminate the unique cultural and spiritual tourism potential of Hai Phong city.

The Hai Phong city Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Hai Phong Mac Clan Council, and the Management Board of the Mac Family Ancestral House held a ceremony at the ancestral house in Kien Hung commune on the evening of July 8 to inaugurate the house restoration and expansion project; receive certificates recognizing a cluster of relics related to the Mac Dynasty in Duong Kinh as a special national relic site and the traditional wrestling festival of Co Trai village as national intangible cultural heritage; commemorate the death anniversary of Queen Vu Thi Ngoc Toan, official wife of Emperor Mac Dang Dung; and open the 3rd Mac Dynasty Countryside Market.
The event was broadcast live on various platforms and channels of Hai Phong Newspaper, Radio, and Television.

In his opening speech, Dr. Hoang Van Ke, former Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee, Chairman of the city Mac Clan Council, and Head of the Organizing Board of the 3rd Mac Dynasty Countryside Market, emphasized the significance of the event in honoring ancestors and promoting heritage value.
Ke highlighted the historical role and contributions of Emperor Mac Dang Dung and the Mac Dynasty, as well as the dedication of the Mac clan and local people in restoring the ancestral house. He also stressed the significance of such festivals as Co Trai village wrestling festival, the new-year writing ceremony, and the Mac Dynasty Countryside Market.

On April 9, the cluster of five relics related to the Mac Dynasty in the former Duong Kinh area was officially recognized as a special national relic site. Among them, the Mac family ancestral house serves as the centerpiece, preserving rich historical, architectural, and cultural values.
After 10 years of construction, the Mac ancestral house was completed, becoming a prominent destination for historical, cultural, and spiritual tourism in Hai Phong city.

This year’s Mac Dynasty Countryside Market runs from July 8 - 12, featuring over 70 booths showcasing OCOP products and typical specialties from across the newly merged Hai Phong city and Mac descendants from various regions. The market recreates traditional rural life with folk games, culinary experiences, and performances of traditional arts.
