The spouses of ABAC members have taken part in a tour and hands-on experience in Chu Dau pottery village, Thai Tan commune, Hai Phong city.
A delegation of spouses of APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) members visited Chu Dau pottery village in Thai Tan commune, Hai Phong city on July 16 morning as a sidelines activity of the ongoing 3rd ABAC meeting in the city.
During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the history, restoration, and development of this prestigious ceramic line. They toured the production workshop, learned about the crafting process, and tried painting on ceramics.
The spouses expressed admiration for the intricate beauty and harmony of Chu Dau pottery pieces. They also appreciated the efforts made by a Vietnamese enterprise in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values amid globalization.
The visit not only served as a platform to promote Vietnamese culture to international friends but also conveyed a message of a culturally rich Vietnam, deeply integrated with the world yet firmly rooted in its cultural character.
Chu Dau pottery is a fine ancient ceramic line dating back to the 12th – 13th centuries and flourishing during the 15th – 16th centuries under Ly, Tran, Le, and Mac dynasties. Nowadays, Chu Dau pottery is present in over 30 countries, displayed in many major museums worldwide, and chosen as a high-level diplomatic gift of Vietnam.
