Hai Phong pledges to accompany and facilitate businesses’ investment, development

Hai Phong leaders affirmed their commitment to supporting foreign investors, highlighting opportunities in high-tech, logistics, renewable energy, etc. during recent meetings with Danish and Korean business representatives.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Phong city Le Ngoc Chau hosted receptions for Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz and Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Business in Vietnam (KOCHAM) Ko Tae Yeon on July 14 afternoon on the occasion of their attendance at the 3rd meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC III) in Hai Phong.

At the meeting with Ambassador Nicolai Prytz, Chairman Le Ngoc Chau provided an overview of Hai Phong’s socio-economic development in recent times. He expressed hope that with its many new advantages and potential following the merger with Hai Duong province, Hai Phong would attract more Danish investors, especially in sectors where Danish enterprises have strengths, such as renewable energy and logistics.

Ambassador Nicolai Prytz thanked the city’s chairman for the warm welcome and highly appreciated Hai Phong’s strengths and potential in attracting investment. The Danish Embassy, he affirmed, is ready to continue acting as a bridge to draw Danish enterprises and investment funds to Hai Phong and to realize the contents of the signed memoranda of understanding between the two sides.

The ambassador also expressed his strong impression and congratulations on Hai Phong’s achievements, including those obtained after its merger with Hai Duong province. He wished the new Hai Phong city would continue to thrive, lure more investors, and meet its development goals.

On the afternoon of the same day, Chairman of the city People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau also received KOCHAM Chairman Ko Tae Yeon and leaders of three subsidiaries of LG Group in Vietnam, namely LG Display Vietnam, LG Electronics, and LG Innotek.

At the meeting, the KOCHAM and LG leaders expressed appreciation for the support from Hai Phong authorities and hoped to continue making meaningful contributions to the city’s development.

Chairman Le Ngoc Chau thanked KOCHAM for its ongoing companionship in fostering investment and business activities by member companies over the past 20 years, significantly contributing to Hai Phong’s growth.

He suggested that KOCHAM continue to work with Hai Phong to draw Korean enterprises and corporations to the city, especially to invest in a free trade zone, which is being planned under a special mechanism, and priority sectors, including high technology, supporting industries, semiconductors, smart logistics, seaports, renewable energy, and eco-urban areas.

He also called for KOCHAM’s support in connecting vocational and high-quality engineering training to meet the actual needs of enterprises.

Recognizing and appreciating the effective and impactful investments of LG Group’s companies in Hai Phong, Chairman Chau encouraged them to expand their projects in the city, take the lead in integrating local businesses into LG's supply chain, and consider establishing a dedicated supply chain for Hai Phong-based enterprises to help enhance their capacity.

Chairman Chau emphasized that Hai Phong’s leadership always listens to and works closely with the business community, including Korean enterprises, to resolve challenges and is committed to creating the most favorable conditions for their investment, operation, and growth in the city.

At the conclusion of both meetings, Chairman Le Ngoc Chau extended a formal invitation to the Danish Ambassador and leaders of KOCHAM and LG companies to attend the Hai Phong Investment Promotion Conference, to be held as part of ABAC III on the afternoon of July 15.
