All tourist and aquaculture activities in coastal and island areas of Hai Phong city must be suspended in response to Storm Wipha.
The Civil Defense Command of Hai Phong city issued a notice on the afternoon of July 20, prohibiting activities on rivers and at sea in response to Storm Wipha, the third to hit Vietnam this year.
Following the Prime Minister's urgent dispatch on responding to Storm Wipha and directions of the municipal People's Committee, the Civil Defense Command announced prohibition of all boats and ships from going to sea.
All fishing, aquaculture, and other activities in river mouths, coastal areas, and offshore waters must cease.
Operations of Cat Hai – Phu Long cable car line, as well as tourism and recreational activities in coastal and island areas, must also be suspended from 5 pm on July 20.
The Military Command and People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones must regularly notify and urge all vessels currently at sea, and all workers on aquaculture rafts and watch huts to return to safe shelter by all available means. Boats must be arranged to avoid collisions or sinking while anchored.
These tasks must be completed by 9 pm on July 20.
Authorities must strictly prevent any vessels or inland waterway vehicles that have taken shelter from operating during periods of strong winds and high waves, using enforcement measures if necessary.
