In recent times, consumer stimulus activities and market access support for businesses by Hai Phong's industry and trade sector have helped revive purchasing power and boost economic growth in the new context.
Promoting domestic consumption
The Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade launched the Hai Phong Traditional Products and Cuisine Fair along Tran Phu sidewalk and Kim Dong flower garden from July 5 to 7.
The event featured 40 booths from 37 local enterprises and production facilities, showcasing OCOP products, handicrafts, food, and other goods from across the newly merged Hai Phong city.
This fair was one of many trade promotion activities organized to celebrate the merger of Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city, thereby propagandizing fine craftsmanship and rich culinary culture to residents and tourists, while also serving as a commercial bridge to stimulate local production and consumption, contributing to sustainable and creative economic development in the locality.
“Participating in the fair brought us joy, not only in networking and expanding our market but also in presenting reputable, high-quality products with clear origins to consumers,” said Nguyen Thi Kim Phuong, Deputy Director of Chau Long Import-Export Investment JSC., based in the city’s Hong Bang ward.
Earlier, the Department of Industry and Trade launched the “Hai Phong Promotion Month 2025” campaign in two phases: June 14 – July 14 and November 15 – December 15. The campaign drew participation from over 1,000 businesses across various economic sectors inside and outside the city, featuring more than 30,000 discounted products. The program is expected to act as a catalyst for Hai Phong’s retail market and help meet or even surpass the city’s targets for total retail sales and service revenue.
Expanding trade promotion methods
Hai Phong’s commercial and service activities saw notable improvement in the first half of 2025. According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the city’s retail sales and service revenue in period totaled 179,931.3 billion VND, up 14.42% year on year.
To achieve these results, in addition to traditional trade promotion methods, the city’s industry and trade sector actively developed markets and facilitated supply-demand connections through digital and online platforms, placing e-commerce at the core.
Businesses, cooperatives, and small traders were regularly supported and guided to participate in domestic and international e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba, Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.
The sector also assisted companies in registering and notifying their e-commerce websites with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, promoted corporate branding, highlighted Hai Phong’s signature products, and encouraged business engagement across e-commerce channels.
